The next day we decided to do a little shopping at the Silk Market. Now I thought Xiang Yang in Shanghai was good this place is spectacular! It is a huge knock-off market dealing in things from clothing, shoes, bags, luggage, quilts, silk fabric, Chinese souvenirs, etc. They also have a couple floors of jewelry which I thought was great and very cheap! It was a very overwhelming day for Jeanette and it definitely reminded me of my first time shopping in China. Everything is just everywhere and you have people in your face asking you if you want to buy a bag, watch, dvd! We are so fortunate in the U.S. to have such an aesthetically pleasing shopping experience! Even Costco is nice to look at versus what you see at these markets!
We went and had lunch so that we could regroup from our first shot at the market. We went back with more of a game plan. We haggled a little bit and bought a few things. We were able to buy the most beautiful Cloisonné Christmas tree ornaments. Jeanette also bought some great Mao memorabilia for friends back home.
